Research and Development

I am a 3rd year Illustration student, at the University of Sunderland, and am at the beginning of my Final Major Design Project.

For this project I have decided to illustrate and write a dry humoured book on being able to commit the perfect murder.

My current lines of research are a retired policeman, the internet, and crime drama on tv.

Could I ask what advice you could give me with regard to research, and your views on books for adults with some interaction involved, such as opening envelopes, unfolding news clippings and perhaps a pop-up at the end?

It would help me hugely to have any input from you, especially in regard to my professional engagement.

Hi Lisa, Minnet Walter's book 'The Shape of Snakes', is a murder story written around letters and news clippings. There's no humour, but it may give you ideas on how to make your story flow. I think this could be a good idea, as Louise said, a sort of 'cluedo' in book form.
