Researching

Hi,

I am looking to produce a television script based on soliders with PTSD. My question is although I have experience with mental health I do not with soldiers with PTSD. How do I go about researching this? Can I contact charities for help?

I feel strongly about the subject and mental health so don't want to give up the project however I don't want to portray something in the wrong light.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Joanne, I have just had a word with my wife about this, she has dealt with many cases of this type. Soldiers who return home with no back up. (Those words are my paraphrasing what she has just said) She has dealt with them from the criminal side as a defence lawyer. Her advice is get in touch with Combat Stress. It has been set up specifically to deal with their problems.

She has told me to tell you that if you want to contact me through this site she will give you the name of the person you need to speak with.

Hope this is of some help, good luck with this project, it is something we have seen the consequences of.

Regards and best wishes, Paul G.

Have you tried browsing psychology journals or contacting a psychologist at your local university? They would have easy access to stats, facts and case studies, all appropriately anonymous.

I don't think any charity you email would give you information or case studies because of data protection. But they might help to put you in touch with someone who might be willing to talk about it, or an organization who may be able to help. It's worth a try.
