Self Publishing - Nearly there

by Michael Anstead
28th September 2015

After a long journey I am nearly ready to put my work out here. I have just added a newly edited sample of my work, please head over there and see what you think.

In preparation for my release (my plan would be in time for Christmas) I have setup a few social media accounts. I would be immensely grateful if anyone who uses these sources could like/follow and share, to help me to spread the word.

My Twitter handle is @twelve_kingdoms

Facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/twelvekingdoms.novel

I have also setup a new email address and am building a mailing list, if anyone is interested in hearing more (or maybe earning my undying gratitude by supporting my Kickstarter campaign that will go live in a few weeks) my new email is twelvekingdoms@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks everyone for your support

Michael

I have added a pair of new samples after having made some of the recommended edits/rewrites.

I have also opted to change to layout of the start of my novel. I have chosen to start off with a prologue (that being my old chapter 1), while chapter 2 is now that start of the story.

So, the novel now starts straight with dialogue.

Thanks

Hi Helen,

Thanks for your reply. I will be forking out for the professional edit. As soon as I can afford it, or if the planned Kickstarter is successful

Hi Michael,

Good luck with self publishing, and remember not to just blast everyone with your book on social media - share something of yourself as well. :-)

And I agree with Lorraine - a really solid edit is essential, as typos lift the reader out of the story and, if you have too many of them, they will mention it in your reviews. If you can stretch to it, investing in a professional edit, even just for typos and punctuation errors, is well worth the money.

All the best,

Helen
