Sending chapters to an agent

Hi everyone, just wondering what your thoughts are on sending chapters to an agent. My chapters could be quite short, or could be grouped together to be fairly long. Do I send 3 short chapters in the hope they want to read more, or 3 longer chapters to give them as much story as possible?

Thanks in advance

If you can't hook them in 20 pages you won't in 200. Think about when you pick up a book in a bookshop/library how much do you read before you take it home - or not?

Send the three short chapters, Claire, if that's what they ask for. Even if they are only one page long each, if they're good enough they will ask for more :-)

Good luck with submitting!

Thanks Steven, even my 3 long chapters don't come close to the usual word limit. I would prefer the very short chapters as this seems to fit better, but that would mean sending about 20 pages, and I'm not sure that would be enough to hook interest, or maybe it would? I'll let you know if I have any success!
