Hi all, I've noticed there are very few magazines for writers (or maybe that's just where I live) and I was thinking about setting up my own magazine which would include any genre from people who love to write world wide. Is this a good idea or am I going to be wasting my time?
A good idea if you can pull it off Victoria but the competition is stiff. There are a large number of magazines out there for writers. Writing magazine and Writers'News, Writers' Forum, Mslexia to name but a few. In your Artists and Writers you'll find more. Some small ones and some big like The London news. If you could have a specific line to attract young people or old ones for that matter you might be successful , but be very careful.
Good luck with the project for all that.
rosa.
Victoria,
It sounds like an excellent idea, but I suspect there is a lot involved with getting it off the ground, distribution and attracting a readership. These days there seems to be more independent publishers producing online magazines. This cuts out all the tricky bits such as distribution, but you would still need to make it cost effective with advertising, etc. If you have a background in publishing I'm sure that would be helpful, probably with a number of contacts.
Thank you so much Susan! I really appreciate that :)
