Short stories alongside Novel

Hello!

Has anyone heard of/had experience with approaching a publisher/agent with a novel with supporting short stories.

Or is this something that is generally considered once you have a publisher/agent/both on side?

I know some authors have released supplementary material after the second/third/fourth sequel, but in your query letter to the publisher is it worth mentioning other potential works you may have in the pipeline?

Thanks

Anthony

Thanks for the responses, I will bear it in mind when I come to write my queries, providing of course I get to a point where I have the supporting material written!

Thanks again.

I think if the works you have in mind are related to the work that you are sending them then yest I think it is worth mentioning and as Debora has said if you have had works already published put that into your submission letter.
