I'm writing my first novel and have no experience, so is it worth starting a website and blog?

Thank you Lorraine that's pretty good advice, I didn't think of it that way. I only thought of it as I read an article where they said you should start one and did say what to put on there, but I guess there's no real need as of yet.
Until you have something to sell, you don't set up shop.
Do you have a ready-made audience for your blog/website? What are you going to put up there?
Are you near to publication? If so, yes - start thinking of ways of publicising your work, and you as a writer/commodity. If not, then there's no real need. There are millions of would-be writers: how many of their sites do you check out on a regular basis? My guess is none, so if you don't look at theirs, why should anyone look at yours?
If you do set up such a site, you have to keep it going and keep it fresh if you want repeat viewings. Until you have something to say, you can't do that.
Your novel may be a long way from being published, and if you are hoping to hang onto your blog/site readers until then, don't start too early or they'll simply wander off.

Thanks Jeremy,
Putting something is better than nothing. I'll look into starting one very soon.
