Social Media

Does anyone here promote their writing through Twitter and/or Facebook etc? I'm just asking as I have read a couple of articles in writing magazines which are positive about the potential benefits of putting yourself out there and connecting with other writers, and would be interested if anyone has had some success stories and positive experiences through doing so.

Thanks Georgina and what you say definately makes sense. Unfortunately I am not yet far enough down the path to have a book published as yet so there is no danger of me turning fellow twitters off by self promotion on that score. However, if I am ever lucky enough to be in that position at some point in the future, I will certainly heed your advice.

Elizabeth,

I should also add that I would not suggest using Facebook & Twitter, to speak only about your books. Unfortunately if all you are saying every day is "Buy my book... Buy my book", you will not receive many followers and will not have many people who will share you page to all their thousands of followers to help you.

Hi Elizabeth,

I would say that using social media is a must for all writers. It is how you build your fan base, whether you are published or not. These are the people that will that will support you all the way there and will continue supporting you, whether you are a success or not.

Best Wishes
