Are there any members of this forum who've had their book "spotted" by an agent or publisher after posting some chapters here?

I think the aim of shared work is more to improve the quality and caliber, so that when it's submitted to agents it's more likely to get picked up - alas, time constrains mean very few agents actively solicit work the find. It does happen, of course, and I know some people who found agents via Twitter - though that may have been more through a built up friendship PLUS the quality, rather than simply seeing samples
Victoria, your prose must be good, and your concepts original, to attract the attention of Madeleine Milburn. I hope that you are successful in your efforts.
A well known figure in the publishing trade did say I was a good writer. I did not get excited because there are many excellent writers out there. Besides, there was much work to do on my novel. However, I was encouraged to be told my style was good.
I believe my novel needs one final edit, then I intend to have my work professionally edited, before I submit my manuscript to agents/agencies.

Sadly not, although as the pessimistic-optimist that I am I too live in hope.
