The Visit Comp

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question about dialogue - has anyone used a lot in their submission piece? I've used quite a bit and then when I read the winners from last year's comp, there was not that much dialogue at all. It's all a learning curve for me, but just curious as to how much dialogue other people use.

Thanks

I agree with Susan - it depends on the piece. I used a lot as it was very character based and obviously dialogue to a great way to put that across, but I believe you should write the dialogue to the story rather than the other way round. But then I'm not going to win so don't listen to me!

I had dialogue in my piece but I felt it was integral to the story.

I am not sure as to whether it is a requirement for us to include dialogues. I didn't include dialogues in my story. I was worried about this dialogue part though after submitting my story. By then, it was too late. I guess we just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. :-D
