What punctuation rules do you break?

I mainly use commas and full stops. I never use semi colons.

I omit commas during dialogue because it helps the conversation to flow..

Rules are there to be broken! And the style in which you write, plus the visual appearance of the words, sentences and paras on the page are creative tools at your disposal too. They can bring your book to life and give it a unique angle. Like this:

Totally agree with the Bertrand Russell quote - I think George Orwell has a lot of good pointers for writers.

I try to avoid long sentences. Long sentences slow the pace in dramatic scenes. There's also the danger of trying to get a long sentence to do to much. But that's not the reason I don't use semi colons. You just don't see semi colons in contemporary novels.
