Why do stories matter

by Thomas Kavanagh

Very often, stories can change our lives and drive real personal change. So my question to you is, why do stories matter to you? And how have they changed your life?

For me, stories matter because we can find meaning in them, and by finding that meaning we are sometimes able to have a deeper understand of everything.

So fire away fellow writers&artists!

A good book is your best friend. Stories teach you humanity. Fine novels are inspirational. Reading good literature makes you know yourself more. They make you walk more in the world.

Stories matter because they're a means of passing on information to future generations. If we write a story it's because we want someone to read it. Sometimes we write them plainly and other times highly metaphorically. Each one carries a message to be read by someone else at some later date.

They hold a special place in my heart, I don't know the reason myself for why they do, but I hold a great passion and love for books and stories. They have changed me, they have given me a goal, a motive, something to work hard and strive towards and look forward to. And when I am reading and writing, I know in my heart, that I'm in the right place, doing the right thing. They matter because, they give me a lot of happiness, just by their existence.
