Not only the same sex, but roughly the same age....
I am 17 and in the past two novels, it is a teenager of 16 & 17. It is easy to write so, because you tend to link your life with the protagonist's life. I concocted a mixture of my life's ups and downs in my story.... :D
But transcending from habit, I am trying out a female protagonist in my next book.... :D :D
My protagonist's voice is my own pretty much, so she has to be female.
I am interested in writing differently in future books though :)
