Arvon at Home Masterclass: The News That Stays News

25th February 2021 11:00am to 12:00pm, Online

Many of us will have felt the desire to write poetry that bears witness over the last year. But we might also be anxious about writing poems that ‘date’, or aware of Pound’s assertion that literature ‘is the news that stays news’. In this masterclass we will read and write poems that respond to current world events, exploring strategies for writing your times both obliquely and directly, with reference to forms that pay attention to the moment, from haiku to poetic journals.

The masterclass will be delivered via Zoom and will last two hours (11:00am – 13:00pm) including time for you to write. You will need to have a computer or smart device and a reliable internet connection in order to participate. This is a live event only and it will not be recorded.

There are limited number of grants available for people on low-income. These are allocated on a first come first served basis. Please contact communications@arvon.org to apply.
