How to Edit Your Novel

20th September 2023 7:00pm to 8:30pm, Online

Is my novel moving at the right pace? How can I improve my dialogue? What did that character want from this scene? What’s working (and what isn’t?) Ask these key questions and get the guidance you need to improve your work-in-progress in this special editing masterclass.

Ahead of the 2nd October deadline for our Working-Class Writers’ Prize 2023, author and this year's judge, Kasim Ali, shares tips on how to edit your novel. Whether you’re in the middle of an edit, or about to set out on the editing process for the first time, this is the masterclass is for you and your work-in-progress.

As an author and editor, Kasim has a unique insight into the editing process. He will offer his advice on finding the engine of your story, identifying friction in your writing and the importance of interrogation. Kasim will also give top tips around pace as well as sharing his techniques on seeing the bigger picture of your story when tackling structural edits.

If you are a working class writer, please do check out our Working-Class Writers’ Prize which is currently open for entries.
