We're partnering with Open University over two evenings in October for How To Get Published, an online incarnation of our successful pre-pandemic conference format. Which means business as usual, with a line-up of acclaimed authors, commissioning editors and literary agents on hand to offer tips on the creative process as well as invaluable insight into the world of publishing.

Born in Manchester, Danielle Jawando’s previous publications and broadcasting credits have included a short story Paradise 703, which was published by DeadInk in 2012 (and long-listed for the Finishing Line Press Award in 2011). She has also had several short plays performed at the King’s Arms in Manchester, and at Stratford Circus in London. In 2015, she worked on Coronation Street as a storyline writer and in 2018, her short story The Deerstalker was selected as one of the six finalists for the We Need Diverse Books short story competition. Her debut novel And the Stars Were Burning Brightly was published by Simon & Schuster in February 2020.
Angelique Tran Van Sang is a commissioning editor at Bloomsbury, publishing literary fiction and narrative non-fiction. She has worked with writers such as Kamila Shamsie, Madeline Miller and George Saunders, and her authors include Jenny Zhang, Catherine Cho, Reni Eddo-Lodge, Olivia Sudjic and Alexander Chee. Jess Whitlum-Cooper started her career in publishing working as a literary assistant at Curtis Brown. She now works as a Commissioning Editor at Headline, acquiring fiction ranging all the way from commercial to upmarket reading group.
