Parracombe Prize

31st January 2024 12:00am

For published, self-published and aspiring writers alike, our short story competition gives you the chance to win a prize and also be published in our Parracombe Prize anthology.

Each year the competition opens on the 1st November and closes three months later on 31st January.

Those shortlisted in the competition will be informed by the end of March (depending on the number of entries we get this can vary a little). The final selection for the anthology will be announced in early May.

Prizes
1st prize £150
2nd prize £50
3rd prize £25 (there are two third place prizes awarded each year)

Local Writer’s Prize
A £50 prize will be awarded for the best ‘local’ entry (our thanks go to the Lyn Lions for making this possible with their financial support)

Local writers are identified as being from North Devon postcodes EX31 to EX39

Thank you to all who entered the Parracombe Prize in previous years and we look forward to reading this winter’s crop. Each year the standard and variety of story continues to enthrall us.
