Are you writing an adventure story for a middle grade audience, but struggling to make your plot hit in all the right places? Join best-selling author Christopher Edge, who leads this workshop session on Plotting & Pacing Your Middle Grade Adventure as part of our online Children's & YA Fiction Festival.

Through a combination of practical advice, discussion, and writing exercises, Christopher will cover everything from the spark of an idea to creating a plan, understanding the structure of your story and ensuring your emotional and narrative beats hit in all the right places.

Christopher Edge

Christopher Edge is an award-winning children's author whose books have been translated into more than twenty languages. His novels The Many Worlds of Albie BrightThe Jamie Drake EquationThe Infinite Lives of Maisie Day and The Longest Night of Charlie Noon have all been nominated for the prestigious CILIP Carnegie Medal, and he has also won several awards for his children's fiction including the STEAM Children's Book Prize and the Brilliant Book Award. He has been described as 'a writer of genuine originality' by The Guardian and his last four novels have all been awarded The Times' Children's Book of the Week.

He is also the author of the bestselling How to Write Your Best Story Ever! and How To Be A Young #Writer, inspirational guides to creative writing for children and teenagers and is an experienced teacher of creative writing, running workshops for aspiring children's authors at the Cheltenham Literature Festival and Edinburgh.

Booking & payment

All workshops are available to purchase separately but come as part of our Children's & YA Fiction Festival 2021.

The workshop fee of £30 (inc. VAT) is payable in full online and includes a £5 charitable donation to the National Literacy Trust.

This is a live online event which will be presented using video conferencing software. Joining instructions and full guidance will be provided by the W&A Team a week before the event start-date.

All materials used by the author in the workshop session will be available for us to share with attendees at the author's discretion.

If you would like to book three workshops, you can do this at a special combined price of £70. W&A Admin will contact all customers booking at this special price w/c 22nd February to confirm their workshop choices.
