Before we do though, we would like to say thank you to everyone who entered. We've been blown away by the quality of the entries we received, and have thoroughly enjoyed spending the past week fighting alongside Vikings, strolling through 1950s Chicago and dancing with kings. We encourage each and every one of the (nearly) 500 of you who entered to pursue your stories, because they've been a pleasure to read.
It's time to announce the shortlist for our Historical Fiction competition!

I dream of being short listed but deep down in my heart I want to be the one who wins!
I hate failure as much as the next (aspiring) writer - but I hate not stepping up to the plate even more.
So, to all those who didn't make the short list let's pick ourselves up and get ready for the next competition while we wait on the results of this one!
Thanks Mark,
To be honest I'm happy just to be shortlisted, I'm easily pleased!
Well done, Katie, I've got everything crossed for you!
