We've been blown away by the quality of the entries we received, and have thoroughly enjoyed spending the past week fighting alongside Vikings, strolling through 1950s Chicago and dancing with kings. It's time to announce the shortlist for our Historical Fiction competition!

However, decisions - eventually! - had to be made. Our shortlist of ten entries are as follows:
