Anyone entered the Flash Fiction competition?

by Jennifer Harvey

I just sent in my attempt and was surprised at just how difficult it was to condense my ideas into a 200 word limit.

More difficult even than poetry which can be freed up by the form you chose to use.

But with fiction I found the constraints that much tighter. Which I did not expect. Makes it a great writing expercise though, that's for sure.

Has anyone else experienced this or do you find Flash Fiction easy to write?

I wonder if, Aesop's Fables, would inspire those interested in Flash-Fiction.

The stories are very short.

I hope that helps.

Good luck to all the participants.

I have to say that I've never written flash fiction and I don't really know anything about the genre, but I am temped to try entering this competition. It must be very difficult to write something that can be considered a whole in itself using such a small amount of words. Still a few days to consider... Good luck, Jennifer and all the brave ones who venture!
