Anyone entered the Flash Fiction competition?

I just sent in my attempt and was surprised at just how difficult it was to condense my ideas into a 200 word limit.

More difficult even than poetry which can be freed up by the form you chose to use.

But with fiction I found the constraints that much tighter. Which I did not expect. Makes it a great writing expercise though, that's for sure.

Has anyone else experienced this or do you find Flash Fiction easy to write?

I also tried for the Lascaux Review competition (still open for one day if anyone else wants a go). You know you want to ;-)

My entry is here:

They use images as prompts, which seemed to help me quite a bit.

I will be sending my entry in today and I actually enjoyed putting it together.

It is not easy but it is a challenge to compress a short story down to its bare bones. And still have a Start, a Middle and an End.

I would heartily recommend it as a great exercise in word constraint.

Good luck to everybody entering

Very difficult! trying to squeeze a setting, plot, characters and a theme into 200 words is tough! best of luck :)
