Character naming

I have two families in a story I'm writing, each with a family crest that is the sun and moon respectively. My question is, is it a good idea to have their first names which have sun and moon meanings in them? Or would it be too cliché?

That is an excellent idea.

Characters generally have names that reflect their personalities, as do settings.

Two examples. Dickens - Great Expectations, Miss Haversham, 'Have - A - Sham'

Hardy - Tess of the D'urbervilles, Alec Durberville, DurbErVILle / The uppercase letters spell DEVIL.

I hope that helps .

Good luck.

Sounds appropriate enough. I would assume a crest would in some way reflect a family name or a family trade or heritage, so why not?
