Do you read short stories?

I find them helpful for chapter-building.

Not nearly enough, considering how much time I spend writing them. I think they're a sadly neglected form (though they keep having a mini-revival) so while you might hear of a well-known novelist bringing out a story collection, it's rare to hear about a new collection from an author that only writes shorts.

I tend to approach novels and short stories as completely different animals, so I don't think I'd see a chapter as akin to a short story, but it's whatever works for you, really.
