I was hoping to share the first chapter of my novel, which I hope is aimed at the age group from 10 to 15 but not being sure of these things I would like to know what other people think about that, and also I have roughly 4500 words is that too much to post, I can't really reduce the chapter to make it fit or it probably won't make sense. anyone with any ideas, PLEASE!!!
my thanks once again for your suggestions, it is good to know people do genuinely want to help. Regards Paul.
Hi Paul,
I don't think I was clear - brilliant failing for a writer, eh? ;) - I meant pitched at a certain age group. From what you say, it sounds like YA to me but without reading the style and content I couldn't comment further. If you do what LSJ did then I can have a look.
Have you read much children's fiction - as an adult, I mean? It would really help with aiming at the right age group. If not, take a few out of each section in the library and see what you feel is closest to yours in terms of "feel". For quality writing I recommend Patrick Ness and David Almond but there are soooooo many more and I could go on all day so I'll leave it at my top two!
Good luck.
Hi thanks L. S. That sounds literary. I think that is a good idea. I have not produced a link before so I hope it's an easy task. thanks for the tip. Regards Paul.
