Fun question, how many words do you write in a day?

I noticed there’s a promotion for the NaNoWriMo competition in the Blogs section. You have to write 50,000 words in a month, an average of 1666 words a day.

Good luck to those who enter.

What’s the most words you have written in a day, or in a month?

Graham Greene’s tip is to write 300 words a day.

That's 2100 a week, 109,200 a year.

Enough for a novel and the beginning of book two.

I have always tried to write a chapter per sitting rather than a set number of words. Not sure if this is a popular choice or not but my brain seems to shut down once I reach that regular cliffhanger.

I do keep a close track of my wordcounts, using a spreadsheet to see the overview of my book.

My first manuscript was written in 9 months and is 85,000 words. But I did write 35,000 of those in the first 5 weeks. Generally I don't worry about how much I write in a day, I just write if I have something to add t my story.

Even on my best day I will struggle with more than 2,000 words
