Why is it a case of every legit agent in the UK seems to be either on the run or avoiding new authors? I am aware that it is not only myself who is having trouble locating these elusive individuals let alone contacting them..... its like chasing a conspiracy theory.

experience here talking, what ever you do FIND AN AGENT, if you don't find one chance are good the story might be your best , however not as far as the professionals are concerned, and I implore you DO NOT SELF-PUBLISH you will condemn your self and your book to a complete dead end, no agents will talk to you, no book store will carry it and no reviews will come. if you have to rewrite it ten times do it.... do not self publish...
