How many words?

How many words do you tend to write in one sitting?

Is there a maximum or a minimum you work to?

What do you consider a good day?

How long do you tend to work on your MS before you've had enough?

Replies

I usually can't sit everyday to write. So whenever I write, it is 600 - 700 words....

I write every day. I do not count the words. I actually have no idea, I don't look at it like that.

I write according to time count, not word count. As in how many minutes/hours did I manage today?

I just sit down and write because its a challenge. I keep telling myself one day I will finish and I will get it right

In my dreams perhaps.

I have a family that need me (3 kids) and a full time job that keeps me busy 8am to 5.30 pm every day, so I have to squeeze in the writing between too many commitments

I write in the early morning, lunch break, weekends, evenings, whenever I can fit it in

And sometimes I dream of winning the lottery and not having to do my very dull job that pays the bills

It aint easy that's for sure

If I write a short story or essay, I keep writing until the first draft is finished. I look upon this somewhat as a sculptor looks upon his block of marble. I chisel or hack at it until it takes on the semblance of a coherent short story or chapter. The end result can often be totally different from the first draft.
