I bought my copy of Writer’ & Artists Yearbook 2013, but I found on the internet “independent” publishers not listed in W’s & A. They are, however, the only ones inviting MSS submissions without a literary agent. Can they to be trusted?

Felice - I self-pubbed my first (with youwriteon.com) but kept sending out my second - a sequel - which has been picked up by a smaller publisher. They didn't want to read the whole thing before they offered a contract, which leads me to believe they'd read the first. And although their terms aren't over-generous it gives the new book access to the trade, something difficult to achieve with a self-pub unless you have plenty of money to spend on promotion.
So we'll see how it goes :)
Hi everyone,
I am new here. Talking about rejection. Yesterday my Creative Writing lecturer told us about this particularly writer (can't remember her name) who self-published because no publishing house would come near. It became a bestseller. The dear lecturer simply laughed and said: good for her!
Has anyone thought about to different markets and regions apart from the UK and US?
I agree that rejection hurts... That's why I have chosen self-publishing. I am using XinXii at the moment ( http://www.xinxii.com/en). What platforms are you using?
