Novel written in a series of Letters

Has anyone ever written a novel or short story in a series of letters and have you found it easier or more difficult to do it this way?

Like Victoria, I'd love that kind of novel! I have tried something similar to that but really, I only work on it when I've got a spare moment. Truly, it is hard but there's something so satisfying in being able to write as a person instead of an onlooker, maybe because if it's done well, then you feel so much more involved in the story!

It might be an amazing project, Christina! And even better than that, would be making a fictional author who tells the history but at some point makes part of it (As Lemony Snicket in "Unfortunate Events" for example)... guess it would match with the narrative' style.

Good luck!

I am attempting a mystery for young adults using this method, Victoria. Hope it works. I like to write letters to my friends and they are quite lengthy at times.
