I am using just the ordinary "office word" for my M/S is this ok for submission to an agent or is there a specific piece of software for typing M/S that has all the required spacings and layout they require? Thanks in advance.

Regards Paul.

Forgot to say Paul; a lot of people use all sorts of fonts in Word doc's, but a lot of publishers/agents/competitions state the use of Times New Roman.

Some people sniff at this, as it's an old font. But the reason it's popular, is that it's very easy to read. (That's why it was developed for newspapers and is still the most common for printed books.) Some may still offer New Courier as an option and this used to be the standard because it replicated a type-writer font.

(If you're interested I can also tell you that Arial was developed for early fax machines as their print could be blobby and indecipherable at the far end.)

Of course, some publishers/et-cetera make no stipulation. Just make sure whatever you use is easily read and as Jonathan states above, if you save to PDF (Portable Document Format) you can't change it.

Good luck again.
