Do you develop the stories Plot before you start to write?
Or do you just soldier on, and develop it as you write?

I write a pretty detailed outline before I start so I know roughly where I'm going - actually where my MCs are going. They often get diverted but the outline helps get them back on track.
I know a lot of writers just go for it, but I got stuck so often when I initially tried this approach with my first book I gave it up, wrote an outline and began again.
It's a very individual thing, but doing it this way seems to work for me. Now if I get stuck I look at my saved outlines to see if I can add bits to one or more of those stories: helps with getting the thought processes moving again and I have plenty of new ideas to crack on with once I finish my WIP.
Knowing where your going is very important, so the best thing to do is to have most of the basic plot in mind before writing. The small scenes and such, can be made or developed where you need to later on while you write, but the important thing is to have the main basic plot.
