Not a question - more a vent.
I've been submitting my novel to Agents for a year now. I've been taking advice and re-writing. The novel is better than it was. Personally, I'm quite pleased with it. I certainly think it's better than some of the stuff I've read.
I had my 27th rejection today. The usual guff about 'personal taste' and 'other Agents may take a different view'.
That's it.
That novel goes in a drawer. No more re-writing. My literary novel and my blog will be my focus.
O
Sorry to hear that, Penny. Rejection is just about the worst part of being a writer. Apparently fifty rejections is about the average, I've heard.
Have you considered self-publishing? If you like the story and are happy with it, why not share it rather than putting it in a drawer? Just a thought :)
The industry is changing and having a novel published already, especially with good reviews and an audience, could potentially help your case with future submissions
Good luck with whatever you choose to do x
Do you need to specify your gender? What's wrong with P. Gadd and short biogs are usually in third person so easy to avoid giving the game away there. Interested to hear how you go on. Daphne
:-) I knew you weren't being serious Penny, I meant I'd be interested from the responses to hear if it would make a difference. I'll have a read of your post on shared work.
