Not a question - more a vent.
I've been submitting my novel to Agents for a year now. I've been taking advice and re-writing. The novel is better than it was. Personally, I'm quite pleased with it. I certainly think it's better than some of the stuff I've read.
I had my 27th rejection today. The usual guff about 'personal taste' and 'other Agents may take a different view'.
That's it.
That novel goes in a drawer. No more re-writing. My literary novel and my blog will be my focus.
O
I posted The Attack which was an excerpt. I've just posted the opening couple of pages. The Doomsday Plague - opening.
I wasn't serious about masquerading as a man.
I'm rather wary of a professional editing report. There seems to be a positive industry that purports to help you achieve publication, and it's expensive. I went on the Writers & Artists 'How to get published' short course. There were about 50 of us, each paying £120 for the day, and it wasn't really very professional. Certainly not worth the money.
Always worth a try Penny :) I'd be interested to hear if that would make a difference as the ms I'm writing is a thriller. Have you tried or would you consider a professional editing report? Have you ever posted any on here or on your blog? I'd be interested in reading some

Now, how did that happen? Suddenly the question posted itself. What I was going to say before the computer so rudely interrupted me was maybe, as the novel I've failed to sell is a thriller, maybe I should pretend I'm male and thirty years old.
What do you think, folks?
