I read through my manuscript before I started the long exhausting editing process, which is still on-going. I barely recognised my earliest prose from my vastly improved style at the end of my manuscript.

Hi Adrian, I think whatever we write we will never ever be totally happy with and every time we edit and alter our work it slightly changes something else within the body. I don't think I have ever considered anything "finished" even when it is! we could go on and on. Hope your plots continue and grow, and writing continues to be enjoyable. Regards Paul.
I found my writing had a better flow the more I got down on paper. Something my sample readers actually commented on
I suppose writing is like any skill, the more you practice the easier/better it becomes
Paul, I did many edits and cut 60,000 words. I hope to use the ideas in the cut for future novels. My manuscript is now 82,000 words.
I can't say the editing process is enjoyable as it's still on-going. It seems never ending, but the pleasing aspect was the noticeable improvement with each subsequent edit. Re-writes aren't a problem as I'm working within the structure of the plot and storyline.
