With Hallowe’en in the air and winter upon us, the season of ghost stories has arrived – and in this two-hour workshop you’ll learn the essentials of writing in the form, including how to build atmosphere, pacing, a great reveal, characterisation and more.
Throughout this course you will…
- Be able to define and understand the essentials of a ghost story.
- Explore how to build atmosphere and pace your ghost story
- Examine character in ghost story, and how it is essential to build a truly terrifying tale.
About Alex Davis…
Alex Davis is a workshopper, lecturer, writer and events organiser based in Derby. He is a long-time fan of ghost stories, and has delivered numerous workshops and session on the topic. He is also the originator of the UK Ghost Story Festival, which ran for the second time in 2021. He has been teaching workshops for fifteen years, and over the last five years has been a lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Derby.
