A favourite place to write?

Does anyone have a favourite place to write? As well as writing at home, I used to go to a local village cafe every Thursday and treat myself to a coffee and some lunch at the same time as writing for a couple of hours. I really looked forward to it and got some good pieces of wrting done (in my opinion) - but then they decided to put the background music up and I found I couldnt hear myself think. Now I just write at home but may venture out to a local pub for a non alcoholic beverage and lunch and see what that brings.

I write on the train to work. I prefer the outside seat of a three, never the middle or the window because you can't actually move your elbows enough to type. I like to face backwards on both journeys because that way the sun doesn't obscure my screen. When the train is rammed I sit crosslegged on the floor by the door but I do tend to get trod on.

I love to write really early in the morning about 5 or 6 o'clock. I get comfortable sitting up in bed and, fresh from dreaming, start to write. If I leave it any later the day intrudes and gets in the way. There is nothing like sitting in bed in a faraway place as the rain batters the windows and the cats snore in the background. (If they are snoring they are not trying to see what I am doing and walking all over the macbook!)

I think it would be hard to write in public merely because of the amount of distraction caused by noise and people walking around. Cake might be a distraction too!

I had to learn to write with the kids in the background but I still prefer it at night when the house is quiet or in the day when everyone is out. The island was surprisingly noisy, though, and I miss the parrots, frogs, crickets and dogs barking... oddly.
