A favourite place to write?

Does anyone have a favourite place to write? As well as writing at home, I used to go to a local village cafe every Thursday and treat myself to a coffee and some lunch at the same time as writing for a couple of hours. I really looked forward to it and got some good pieces of wrting done (in my opinion) - but then they decided to put the background music up and I found I couldnt hear myself think. Now I just write at home but may venture out to a local pub for a non alcoholic beverage and lunch and see what that brings.

I used to have a wonderful office in a round turret with 360 degree views up to the mountains and out to sea. There was a door onto a roof terrace that I would take lunch on, or just a breather from work sometimes. The desk was vast and took up half the turret. I used to joke I got nothing done because I was always staring at the view. Utter rubbish. I wrote nearly four books in two and a half years there.

Now I have a tiny room. My two foot six bed is next to me as I type and the end of the bed (and my feet when sleeping) have to tuck under the desk. There isn't room for my clothes with all the books and paperwork and no money to buy a wardrobe if I did have room.

I fluctuate between thinking none of this matters and wanting strangle someone with the injustice of my situation. But I am luckier than most. Although it's a long way away I own half a turret on an island in the atlantic; a place where the kids don't go to school in the rain because of rock fall; a place where the saharan winds leaves layers of sand over everything during a 'calima'; a tropical paradise that once inspired Agatha Christie to write her Mysterious Mr Quin.
