Waiting

by Isabella Hynde

I've been reading the blogs and questions and answers on this site and realise that we're all waiting for something. We might be waiting for the results of the Short Story Competition (hint hint), waiting to hear from an agent (missing or not), waiting for the next inspiring thought, or for the next comment on our shared works. What are you waiting for and how do you handle the waiting?

Replies

Number of finished short stories = 8 (I think)

Number of finished novels = 2

Number of novels in draft stages = 3

Number of novels in planning = 3

Number of current submissions to comps = 0

Number of submissions to agents/publishers = 0

If anyone knows what I'm waiting for, feel free to let me know!

Good post!

I've submitted a fair few flash fiction stories to various competitions in the run up to the National Flash Fiction day. So I am waiting to hear whether they are going to be included.

While I am waiting for my wife to finish reading the first draft of my novel I am starting the second in the series and planning out my adult sci-fi novel.

Hi Lin

I think that's a wonderful way of waiting for inspiration. Maybe you could read something that truly inspires you to capture those thoughts and feelings! What would that be, I wonder.

Hi Louise

I didn't want you waiting to hear back from me so decided to respond immediately. I'm impressed with the number of short stories you're waiting to hear back on. Are you writing a book of short stories?

Here's a positive slant on waiting. Imagine if there was nothing else to wait for!! There would be no anticipation, no nerves, no racing pulse when you receive an email from an agent or publisher, no more wondering if an agent will be asking you to send the rest of your mss. I think I need to take a leaf out of your book. And yours, Lin.
