Community writing game

Hi All,

I thought it would be a fun idea to start a community writing project here in the forum. All you have to do is think of the next sentence to follow the story. It can be any length of a sentence and can take any genre you like.

I'll start.

On a cold and windy evening the owl perched on the branch was his only friend.

"Stench, we've been walking for hours and my paws are hurting," Fang complained, "Can't we rest for a while?"

"Well, we can't find Blakfur until the sun starts rising so I guess we can rest, but only for an hour, not more."

Fang sniffed the ground, found a spot near a tree and lay down. Stench sat next to him, looking up at the night sky and the millions of stars that shined brightly.

"Amazing isn't it?" Stench said gazing at the stars.

"What the sky?" Fang looked up, but couldn't see what Stench found so amazing, "The sky is the sky wherever you go. That is what I've learned while wondering in this forest," Fang lowered his head and gently placed it on the ground.

"Not if you know how to read it," Stench replied, tuning his head to Fang, but only for moment, before looking up again.

Fang could see that Stench obviously saw something majestic in the sky, something he could not see.

"It is the only thing the curse did not change," Stench continued, "No matter how many years have passed, no matter how many lives I've lived, the sky will always remind me of our home. A time before this forest, a time our people lived in a glorious city and thrived."

"Now that is why you shouldn't drink water from the lake near the farm, where the humans wash their clothes, it drives you crazy and you start taking nonsense," Fang replied.

Stench let out a small chuckle, followed by a sigh of disappointment.

"What happened to you Fang? Do you really not remember anything? Have you been an animal for too long, or do you choose to forget and act ignorant?"

Fang raised his head suddenly; ears turned outwards, and stared at Stench. It wasn't Stench's comment that caused this reaction; something else caught Fang’s attention first and he didn’t get to fully understand what Stench said. It was a faint and distant sound, wings flapping in the wind, heading their way.

Mr Woodmouse, in his almost black cover of fur, ran across forest glade and well worn path. When he arrived at Lylona's prison, he picked his way carefully, unseen, to where her slippered feet rested beneath her. He scurried up the outerskirt of her dark silk gown. She knew of his coming. It was foretold that the smallest of woodland creatures would carry the future of their world. He climbed in such a way that he would not be seen by even the most discerning eye. Woodmouse, heart beating wildly, sat upon the slender shoulder of Lylona, Spell Wielder. She moved as if to scratch her neck. Into her slender fingers he placed the Enchanted Pellet.

Mr Woodmouse gathered up the Owls enchanted Pellet.

This was a powerful weapon in the hands of Spell wielder

Within the pellet was the seeds that could make a Hero

Or destroy a forest.

But who was worthy to wield this weapon

Mr Woodmouse scuttled away fearfully.
